Guest Recitals
All guest recitals are to be scheduled by a sponsoring faculty member of the appropriate conservatory division, with the approval of the division director.
To reserve time for a guest recital, a completed Application for Conservatory Event form may be submitted to Concert Production or an e-mail request from the sponsoring faculty member will also be accepted, including the performer’s name and instrument, as well as the desired venue, date, and time.
Sponsoring faculty may start reserving recital dates beginning May 1 for the following academic year. Dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Due to the heavy concentration of student degree recitals and dress rehearsals, we will not schedule guest recitals during the six weeks following spring recess.
Recitals must be scheduled during academic weeks in predesignated slots, beginning at the following times:
Tuesdays through Fridays: 4:30 or 7:30 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays: 12:30, 2:30, 4:30, or 7:30 p.m.
No recitals may be scheduled for Mondays.
Guest recitals may not be scheduled against large ensemble or Artist Recital Series concerts, or against any conservatory-sponsored event of the same instrument.
Venues available for guest recitals are Kulas and Stull Recital Halls, Warner Concert Hall, Fairchild Chapel, the Birenbaum, and the Cat in the Cream Coffeehouse. (Exception: Finney Chapel may be requested for recitals involving organ.)
If requesting a guest recital off campus, the sponsoring faculty will be responsible for contacting the appropriate off-campus building representative.
All guest recitals will be given 30 minutes for setup and a maximum of two hours performance time, including intermission, applause, stage set changes, and music.
Up to two hours of dress rehearsal in the performance venue may be reserved by the sponsoring faculty member when the recital date is confirmed, or any time thereafter. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled using the regular weekly signup protocol as detailed in the Reserving Additional Time in Conservatory Halls section.
The sponsoring faculty member is responsible for scheduling rehearsal time.
The conservatory will provide printed programs for guest recitals. Refer to the Information about Recital Programs section for more information.
▪ Programs for guest recitals must be submitted to Concert Production a minimum of one week prior to the recital date in order for them to be printed.
Ushers and stage crew will be provided for guest recitals taking place in Kulas and Stull Recital Halls, Fairchild and Finney Chapels, and Warner Concert Hall. Only ushers will be provided for recitals in the Cat in the Cream Coffeehouse. All other venues will be unsupported.
Any special instrumental or staging needs should be discussed with Concert Production staff as soon as possible after the recital is confirmed.
Conservatory Audio Services will provide audio recording and/or live streaming of guest recitals upon request only. For more information or for other audio support, contact:
