Employee Engagement

Oberlin College understands the importance of fostering a positive and engaging work environment for our Faculty and Staff. We believe that engaged employees are happier, more productive, and more likely to stay with our institution for the long-term.

Our Employee Engagement program is designed to help our employees feel valued, supported, and connected to our mission and values. Our program includes a range of initiatives, including:

  1. Professional Development Opportunities: We are developing access for our employees to explore ongoing training and development opportunities to help them build their skills and advance their careers.
  2. Employee Assistance Program: Through our partnership with the Cleveland Clinic Lifestyle EAP, we are available to provide personal support to our employees and their families, including all employees, spouses, partners, dependents, and permanent household members.
  3. Community Engagement: We encourage our employees to get involved in our local community through volunteering and other civic engagement activities.
  4. Recognition and Appreciation: We celebrate our employees' achievements and contributions through a range of events and programming, such as employee-appreciation events and awards.

Starting the week of April 10, 2023, HR is encouraging Faculty & Staff to come together each week and celebrate their shared identity as members of the Oberlin College community for “Obie-Spirit Fridays”!

Join us on Monday, May 6th from 11:00a - 2:00p at the Heisman Field House, 200 Woodland Street, for our Employee Appreciation Spring Event. At this event we will present the Yeworkwha Belachew (YB) Award as well as this year's Service Anniversary Awards. Please see our flyer for more information.
