ObieAlert Emergency Notification System and App Debut this Fall
October 28, 2024 3:45 PM
Campus Safety is pleased to introduce ObieAlert, a new campus-wide emergency notification system and safety app created for students and employees of Oberlin College and Conservatory.
Developed by Rave Mobile Safety, ObieAlert replaces Oberlin’s previous notification system and offers a more robust array of resources and features to facilitate more effective communication when time is of the essence.
In the event of a potential emergency, Campus Safety will use ObieAlert to send timely messages to registered cell phone numbers, email addresses, digital displays throughout campus, and to the new ObieAlert app. These messages will clearly describe the emergency situation and provide guidance on appropriate response measures.
In addition, the ObieAlert app makes it easy to connect with Campus Safety from anywhere on campus and at any time of day. The app’s essential features include:
- Emergency Contacts: Single-touch access to dial for emergency and non-emergency support as well as 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
- Mobile Blue Light: Share your campus location and be connected with Campus Safety instantly.
- Virtual Walk Home: Travel to your destination with Campus Safety standing by for support.
- Friend Walk: Send your location to a friend so they can track your progress to your destination.
- Protocall: Access to after-hours counseling.
- Report a Tip: See something? Say something to Campus Safety in real time.
“The safety and well-being of our campus community is our top priority,” says Vice President and Dean of Students Karen Goff. “We are pleased to partner with a provider that represents the industry standard in campus notification systems, so that we can deliver the most reliable and most technologically enhanced safety services possible to our campus community.
“The transition to ObieAlert represents a key step in our ongoing efforts to ensure that Oberlin’s campus is proactively informed at all times—especially in the case of an emergency.”
