I'm trying to legitimize my urge to play with my food, take photos, and make movies. I think my film is a good start in that direction.

Closing thoughts on my first year of college. Note the forced alliteration in the title!

Not that I dislike Oberlin's small, enclosed environment. It's been an incredible space to figure out who I am, what I like, what I don't like, what matters to me, and what I want to do about it. But it is time to leave.

In high school, I did this thing called The Quote Book.

In order to get an idea of the scope of Winter Term projects, we asked students to submit photos. We received shots from the top of Kilimanjaro to the Mad River Valley in Vermont; Prague to Washington, DC; Seattle to Oberlin. Then we made an album.

I love having conversations in which half-completed (because it is not necessary to repeat the entire line) allusions are made to Firefly and Narnia and Lord of the Rings and jokes about The Wheel of Time and Star Trek are tossed around as freely as . . . actually, I don't know any other group that references so many things so frequently and with such great delight. Maybe indie music fans.

Maybe this bit of sentimentality was brought on by the fact that I was standing in a normal kitchen, not a tiny dorm kitchen or an industrial-sized co-op kitchen.

I'm using this blog to showcase some posters made throughout the semester. So sue me.

Four shows over two days is a big ole exhausting run, but we got the show down to an art form. It was gorgeous. (Many pictures for your enjoyment inside!)

Doing something for the first time always has its risks.

I gave my first impressions of my classes at the beginning of the semester, but I never really came back and described them more fully. So now I'm going to give a more detailed view of what I've been up to.
