Dear Readers,
I’m excited to share the first edition of the Oberlin Research Review, a publication that highlights the fascinating discoveries and insights emerging from Oberlin across the sciences, arts, and humanities. These stories represent the high caliber of research conducted by our faculty—work presented each year at leading conferences and published in award-winning books, groundbreaking articles, and rigorous studies.
Oberlin is a community that thrives on inquiry and fosters the creation of new knowledge. Our faculty are leaders in their fields, tackling complex questions and transforming how we understand the world. Their research spans a remarkable range of disciplines and often challenges conventional thinking, pushing the boundaries of what we know.
One of the hallmarks of an Oberlin education is the close collaboration between students and faculty. This partnership–central to the Oberlin experience–is prominent across campus, whether in our science labs, art studios, economics seminars, or conservatory stages. These collaborations forge meaningful mentorship ties and offer students invaluable opportunities to engage in advanced research, laying a strong foundation for their future careers.
As you explore the stories in this publication, I hope you will sense the passion, creativity, and commitment that define our incredible community. I invite you to join us and experience Oberlin for yourself.
