Community Music School Celebrates 10 Years

The Community Music School (CMS) at the Oberlin Conservatory will present a “Mega Musical Mash-up: A Festival of Community Music” on June 2. It will be the culminating event in a series of ten concerts and musical events put on to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the CMS.
Oberlin sweeps viola category at 2013 ASTA solo competition

Oberlin violists Aaron Mossburg ‘13 and Daniel Orsen ‘16 both won their divisions in the 2013 American String Teachers Association National Solo Competition, sweeping the viola category. The final round was held from April 6 to 8 at the Kaufman Center’s Merkin Hall in New York City. Oberlin was the only conservatory to have finalists in two divisions.

Oberlin Conservatory Students to Perform at the Kennedy Center

Seven conservatory students will travel to Washington D.C. to perform on April 14 in the Kennedy Center's annual Conservatory Project. The project provides a platform for the best musicians from American conservatories, and introduces the next generation of performers to Washington, D.C. audiences.
Oberlin congratulates alums of eighth blackbird on third Grammy

The contemporary music ensemble eighth blackbird, formed at Oberlin by students in 1996, has recently won their third Grammy Award—Best Chamber Music Performance—for a piece written by composer Stephen Hartke, also a 2013 Grammy Award winner.
