Jesse Rowsell Memorial Symposium April 4

A symposium will be held in memory of Jesse Rowsell, assistant professor of chemistry, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. An avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, 37-year-old Rowsell died on a hiking trip near his hometown in northern Ontario on January 30, 2015.

Computer Science Students Earn OCWiC Conference Awards

Assistant Professor of Computer Science Cynthia Taylor, along with several students studying computer science, attended the Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWiC) conference February 20 and 21 in Sandusky, Ohio. At the conference, Christine Antonsen was one of two students awarded $1,000 to attend the upcoming Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, the world’s largest gathering of women technologists.

Oberlin Opera Theater performances of La finta giardiniera (“The pretend garden-girl”) K.196, written by an 18-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, resume today, Friday, March 13, and continue through Sunday, March 15, in Hall Auditorium. The opera is directed by Jonathon Field and conducted by Raphael Jiménez.
