Sharing the Oberlin Experience
Marvin Krislov
Since I became Oberlin’s president in 2007, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many Oberlin alums and I’m always struck by how their Oberlin experiences have shaped and continue to shape their lives. A common denominator among our alumni is their determination to be engaged citizens and active members of their communities and a willingness to help make the world a better place. This weekend, 12 of the 22 Oberlin alumni who are National Academy of Sciences members will be on campus for the reunion and symposium “Oberlin and the National Academy of Sciences: Celebrating the Impact and Promise of the Science at Liberal Arts Colleges.”

The search committee website will soon be established and this will keep the community apprised of the search progress.

Homecoming a Success; A Landmark Environmental Conference
Marvin Krislov
An array of academic, musical, artistic, and athletic events, which only Oberlin could offer, made Homecoming a great success. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the weekend a hit. I am also very much looking forward to the second weekend in October when Oberlin will host a landmark environmental conference, “After Fossil Fuels: The Next Economy.” The conference will bring together some of the most innovative and influential thinkers in the world with key elected officials who have a solid and active track record on climate change issues.
