If the walls in Finney Chapel could talk, they would reverberate with the enchanting sounds of the Oberlin Orchestra; command attention with empowering words spoken by Martin Luther KingJr.; and pulse joyously along with South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir.

With many students taking classes remotely due to the COVID-19 global health crisis, some are also finding ways to maintain the connections they have formed in Oberlin.

This photo series is dedicated to the Oberlin experience that is celebrated throughout the year. This week’s collection features Mozart's Così fan tutte. The opera was performed earlier this month by the Oberlin Opera Theater, directed by Associate Professor of Opera Theater Jonathon Field, and the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Christopher Larkin.

Along with programming and support, the group assisted with fundraising efforts for hospitals in China.

This photo series is dedicated to the Oberlin experience we celebrate throughout the year. In this week’s collection, we showcase events that took place earlier this month: a Tiny Ref Desk Concert that featured the battle cries of women suffrage workers; melodies of the Oberlin Baroque Orchestra in Kulas Recital Hall; art used as a means of support in the Allen Memorial Art Museum; and the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams end the season matchups.

Women’s suffrage is recognized, the Arts and Sciences Orchestra performs, entrepreneurs pitch business ideas for prizes, and a podcasting/journalism rockstar shares his recipe for success.

Alumni journalist and authors, the first black woman to stage an opera in the United States is honored, and TIMARA students who turn words of gratitude into works of audible art at a nearby hospital are just some of the features in this week’s photo series.

For the second year in a row, the Oberlin team secured first place honors.

Visiting Assistant Professor Alice Blumenfeld shared her passion for flamenco and the Jewish influence on this Spanish style of dance with a large audience in Hebrew Heritage House.

Held in the Shanks Health and Wellness Center, the session supports students' overall well-being, both mental and physical.
