Biography

Kyle Williams is responsible for fostering community by applying anti-racist, anti-bias, and culturally responsive pedagogies along with trauma-informed practices to create a strong sense of mattering within the Oberlin community. They have been a dedicated advocate for the communities they serve, embedding justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion into the core of decision-making processes. Here at Oberlin College and Conservatory, Williams oversees the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, International Student and Scholar Services, the Multicultural Resource Commons, Gender and Attraction initiatives, and the Office for Disability and Access.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts in music from Otterbein University, a Master of Science in educational leadership from Old Dominion University, and an EdD in education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Their doctoral research focused on the influence of mattering on Black males’ persistence at a regional, predominantly white institution.

Outside of work, Williams is an active lifetime member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, an avid Peloton cyclist and runner, and furry father to Gladiator Huck Harrison.
