Contributing to the COVID Conversation with Clare Stevens ’21

Amidst COVID-19, Oberlin College students found ways to engage academically and creatively to contribute to the conversation surrounding the pandemic. One example of such work is Clare Stevens ’21, an economics major who landed internship last summer in the Community Development Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, where she published an article about the impact of the pandemic on eviction rates in the United States.

Oberlin’s march toward carbon neutrality will become a little more visible this week as crews begin removing a limited number of trees and bushes, making possible the multi-year, campus-wide heating and cooling overhaul that will make Oberlin a national leader in clean energy.

New York Times Chief White House Correspondent Peter Baker will give the keynote Commencement address and receive an honorary doctor of fine arts. The college will also present honorary degrees to journalist, novelist, and film critic Renata Adler, composer John Harbison, and Paul Quinn College President Michael J. Sorrell.
