Sarah Feigelson ’14 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Italy. Feigelson double majored in politics and Third World studies, and she has studied Italian for six years in addition to a semester of Italian language study at Oberlin.
During her Fulbright year, Feigelson says she wants to learn more about Italian approaches to education, with a particular focus on the early childhood education years. She is especially interested in researching the Reggio Emilia method -- named for the city in southern Italy in which it was founded -- and she plans to visit the schools there.
“I’m also looking forward to eating and cooking a lot, and practicing the language,” says Feigelson, who is from Tarrytown, New York. After the Fulbright year, she plans to return to New York to pursue a master’s in early childhood education at Bank Street College.
“I’m thrilled beyond words to accept the Fulbright scholarship. It’s an unbelievable privilege, and I am so fortunate to receive this award.”
