A financial economics major from Walpole, Massachusetts, Cole discovered his passion for economics through a transformative journey at Oberlin College.

Initially unsure of his path, Cole found clarity as he engaged deeply with the interdisciplinary curriculum and the supportive community at Oberlin.

"My interest in economics really took off after I joined the Oberlin Finance Club,” he shares. “Starting as an analyst and progressing to chairman allowed me to immerse myself in investment strategies and leadership, shaping my desire to pursue a career in finance.”

Cole also co-founded the Investment Banking ExCo, a two-credit course designed to equip students with essential skills for the finance industry, and played a key role in founding the Oberlin Consulting Group, where he focused on practical problem-solving and collaborative projects. Additionally, he served as a Dean’s Teaching Fellow in the economics department, where he mentored fellow students and contributed to their academic journeys.

Beyond the classroom, Cole balanced his academics with his role as a two-year captain of the men’s lacrosse team, a position that honed his leadership skills and reinforced the values of teamwork and perseverance. He is also a member of the Oberlin Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which has deepened his sense of community and commitment to personal growth.

Cole’s hands-on experience in the finance world solidified during his internships. In the summer of 2023, he interned as a financial analyst at Microsoft, gaining valuable insights into corporate finance. Most recently, he completed a fixed income trading internship at Invesco, further enhancing his skillset and preparing him for the next stage of his career.

Looking ahead, Cole is excited to join UBS in New York City as a full-time investment banking analyst in 2025. “Every experience—from my time at Walpole High School to my journey at Oberlin—has contributed to my growth and passion for finance,” he reflects. “I can’t wait to apply everything I’ve learned as I step into the professional world.”

After graduation, Cole plans to leverage his education and experiences to make meaningful contributions to the finance industry while continuing to cultivate his interests in investment banking.
