Twenty-seven Oberlin students received scholarships and fellowships during the 2016-2017 academic year in fields ranging from language study to musical performance to STEM research.

Beginning this summer, eight graduates will live and work in Asia to build language fluency, cross-cultural skills, and lasting relationships.

Six faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music received the Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2014-2015 academic year. The recipients were Associate Professor of Mathematics Jack Calcut; Professor of Hispanic Studies Sebastiaan Faber; Professor of Piano James Howsmon; Director of the Division of Conducting and Ensembles, Associate Professor of Conducting, and Director of the Oberlin Orchestra Raphael Jiménez; Professor of Comparative American Studies Gina Pérez; and Associate Professor of Jazz Studies Daniel Wall.

The U.S. Department of State recognized Oberlin College as a 2014-2015 Top Producing Fulbright U.S. Student Program Bachelor’s College. Of 55 Oberlin College student and alumni applicants, 13 were awarded Fulbright grants in 2014-2015.

The recipients were Associate Professor of English Jennifer Bryan; Professor of Pianoforte Sanford Margolis; Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies John Petersen; Professor of Chemistry Robert Thompson; and Professor of Conducting Tim Weiss.
