Biography

Josh Jensen has been vice president for communications at Oberlin College and Conservatory since 2021. In this role, Josh is responsible for advising Oberlin’s president on communications-related matters, collaborating with college leadership on campus-wide communications, and leading a team responsible for Oberlin’s print and digital communications, branding and identity, media and public relations, social media, video and multimedia, internal communications, crisis communications, and overall marketing communications strategy.

Prior to his appointment at Oberlin, Josh was vice president for enrollment and communications at Whitman College, where he led a number of major communications initiatives including a research-driven refresh of the institution's brand messaging, and development of the Whitman Blues athletics mascot. Josh has also served in marketing and communications roles at Connecticut College and Boston College.

Josh earned a PhD in higher education from Boston College, where he studied innovative colleges and barriers to innovation in higher education, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Josh has taught marketing and business courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
