Joey Rizzolo ('98) is a director of film and theater, and a teacher of the same. Like much of the art he produced, the artist himself developed in New York, directing plays and musicals ranging from new work to Shakespeare, with a particular penchant for politics and the stories of young people. For years before returning to Oberlin, he was a resident artist with the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival. As one of the early members of the New York Neo-Futurists (with whom he still works as an associate artist), he created and developed new work for nearly 2 decades. Joey is a political director with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and an Epic (capital-E) approach to storytelling.
