Summer Housing

Summer Housing 2025

Housing is available for students who need to remain on campus during the summer months. Students will be assigned to apartment-style units (Firelands), which include air conditioning and a kitchen.

Depending on student interest, additional housing may be available in Zechiel House, a traditional-style residence hall without air conditioning, offered at a reduced rate. If there is not sufficient interest in Zechiel, students who select that option will be placed in apartment-style housing at the standard rate.

Most apartments accommodate two to four students. During the application process, students will be able to indicate preferred roommates. A limited number of single-occupancy units are available and reserved for students with approved accommodations through the Office of Disability and Access.

Please note that space is limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Apartment Rate: $20 per night, $140 per week

Zechiel House Rate: $15 per night, $105 per week

Priority Deadline: May 1, 2025

Department-Sponsored Requests

Oberlin departments may request summer housing for students who need to remain on campus for college-sponsored work or research. Departments are responsible for covering the housing costs for each student they request.

To submit a request, please use the Summer Registration Form and complete the Departmental Request section.

Summer Housing End & Move-Out

Summer residents who will also live on campus during the fall semester will move to their fall assignment the last week of July. Fall residents must plan to be on campus this week to complete their move.

Summer residents who will not live on campus or who will not attend Oberlin in the fall must move out of their summer assignment by 4 pm on August 3, 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I stay in my spring housing assignment over the summer?

A. No, students staying for summer housing must move to the designated summer housing location.

Q. If I plan to stay the entire summer but leave for two weeks, will I be charged for the two weeks I'm away from campus?

A. Yes, charges will apply during your absence. However, if you opt to vacate the room for the specified two-week period, no charges will be incurred. Prior arrangements with the Office of Residence Life are necessary, and all belongings must be cleared from the room. Upon your return to campus, availability of the same room cannot be guaranteed.

Q. If I have an upcoming Fall assignment in Firelands, can I be placed in the same room for the summer?

A. It depends on a few circumstances, but we will try to place Fall Firelands residents in the same room for the summer.

Q. I want to return early for the fall semester. Should I submit my request using the Summer Housing Registration?

A. Residence Life is currently not accepting summer housing registrations for dates starting in August. Students wishing to return early for the fall semester should submit their request through the Fall Early Arrival Registration Form once it becomes available.
