Join us for a special preview screening of Todo parecía posible / Everything Seemed Possible (2025), a documentary written and directed by Ramón Rivera Moret (Puerto Rico) and produced by Oren Rudavsky (NY). The film premiered earlier this year at the Rotterdam International Film Festival as part of the Cinema Regained section. A conversation with the director will follow the screening.

Todo parecía posible explores Puerto Rican cinema and modernization in the mid-20th century. Through the lens of the Division of Community Education’s award-winning films of the 1950s and 1960s, the documentary examines a generation’s utopian vision for Puerto Rico—one that ultimately clashed with the very government that had championed it. Blending archival footage with Rivera Moret’s family history, the film captures the hopes, contradictions, and struggles of a pivotal era in Puerto Rican cultural and political history.

The film is in Spanish with English subtitles. The discussion will be held in English.

This event is sponsored by the Blanchard Fund and supported by Hispanic Studies, History, Comparative American Studies, and Cinema and Media.
