Nourished by Time is a project started in 2019 by Baltimore native genre-bending artist Marcus Brown. His music combines 1980s elements like new wave, elector-funk, and R&B, as well as synth-pop. Before starting Nourished by Time, after practicing different instruments most of his life and graduating from Berklee College of Music, he found writing music as a way to escape from his day job. Nourished by Time is most known for his EPs Erotic Probiotic 2, which was featured in Pitchfork under Best New Music, and Catching Chickens, which features the song Hell of a Ride. His dream-like melodies and love for 90s music and songs like Weak by SWV exude into his music and make for songs good to dance and contemplate.
DORIS is Frank Dorrey, a Jersey-raised multi-hyphenate who first came to public attention as a visual artist whose uncanny portraits have adorned album sleeves and limited-edition skate decks. As DORIS, he’s uploaded over 100 moody, snippet-sized journeys into his psyche, heavy on pitched-up melodies and self-produced loops and dance beats that sample any and everything: kompa, disco, Southern rap, sadboy rock, whatever is viral on TikTok, and some good ol’ fashioned soul.
