The Cardinal Chamber Orchestra is a student directed and conductorless string orchestra founded by Christopher Broyles '26 during the 2025 Winter Term.  For their final concert, they will present a program of William Grant Still, Matthew Brown '26 and Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky.  Over the past month, this orchestra made up of 18 Oberlin Conservatory string students, has not only rehearsed, learned from A Far Cry's Jason Fisher and Hannah Collins, but taken their passionate music making and music education out into the Oberlin community.  The Cardinal Chamber Orchestra took flight to Grafton Correctional Facility for a performance and a side by side rehearsal with Ensemble Unmuted, to Northern Ohio Youth Orchestras for a masterclass and side by side with Sinfonietta Strings, to the Oberlin Public Library(in collaboration with The Allen Art Museum and Oberlin Kids) for a music inspired art project, to Kendal at Oberlin for an open rehearsal, performance and discussion,  as well as to the Kendal Early Learning Center for a show and tell of instruments and performance.
