Appreciative Education: Understanding the Needs of First-Gen Students

Faculty and staff are invited to join the Center for Student Success for a student panel discussion on supporting first-generation college students through the lens of appreciative education. We’ll learn from a panel of student experts about the first gen experience, and how faculty and staff can create a more welcoming and supportive atmosphere for first gen students to bolster their journey to graduation. 

Participants in the session will develop an increased understanding of: 

• The experiences of first gen students at Oberlin 
• How the six AE phases enhance the first gen experience 
• Innovative actions they can take to support first gen students
