Ella Newcomb graduated from Oberlin College in 2023 with a degree in comparative literature specializing in trauma studies and Italian literature in translation and a concentration in education. Ella has worked as a classroom teacher for students ages two to twenty-five for 6 years and recently joined the Oberlin College Student Affairs team in Fall 2024 as the Sustained Dialogue Coordinator. While a student at Oberlin, Ella co-chaired the Girls in Motion program, acted as a Sexual Harm Information Liaison for the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association, acted as Chair of Community Engagement for The Survivors of Sexual Harm and Allies, worked as a Barefoot student leader and facilitator, and a tour guide and interviewer for Admission. Ella is passionate about equity which can be achieved through empathy and dialogue.

Following her graduation, Ella spent four months in a small town outside of Milan, Italy finishing the translation of a book of poetry, which began as her capstone, entitled Maternity by Ada Negri. When she's not at Oberlin, Ella loves to bake sourdough, write poetry, spend time with her cat, Edmund (who can be found at Lewis House every Tuesday), and play music. She is excited to be back at Oberlin and working with her amazing mentors and colleagues.
