Message from the Conservatory Dean: Conservatory Facilities Closing
March 14, 2020 1:15 PM
Dear Conservatory students,
I hope that everyone is doing as well as possible given the circumstances.
I write to announce that, effective 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, the Conservatory will be closed to all students, including those who have been granted permission to remain on campus.
Conservatory facilities will remain closed to all students—including those granted permission to remain on campus—for a period of at least two weeks (through Monday, March 30 at the earliest).
Thereafter, students must request special permission from the Conservatory Dean’s Office to access the facilities, provided it is possible to reopen facilities at that time.
We plan to announce the procedures for requesting access over the next week or two. To underscore, access will be severely limited, restricted only to students granted special permission.
Any student who is able to return home should do so immediately.
Additionally, starting with the resumption of classes on Monday, March 30, all Conservatory instruction must be conducted remotely, including private lessons. Please be in touch with your teachers directly for more information.
We know that this is incredibly disruptive, and we thank you all for your patience, flexibility, and understanding.
Please be in touch with the Conservatory Deans Office or your teachers for more information.
With all best wishes,
William Quillen, Dean of Oberlin Conservatory
P.S. To those of you who performed over the past few days—thank you and congratulations!
