The TAC is designed to plan, prioritize, and optimize campus-wide technology initiatives, ensuring that they are in sync with Oberlin's broader institutional goals. By leading this strategic initiative, the council aims to position Oberlin at the forefront of educational technology and operational excellence.

Rebecca Vazquez-Skillings Vice President for Finance and AdministrationRebecca Vazquez-Skillings, Oberlin’s Chief Financial Officer, echoed the significance of this new initiative.

“TAC is essential for improving efficiency, managing risks, saving costs, and really, above all, ensuring that we are providing the kind of experience our students deserve.”

The council is structured into three key teams to ensure comprehensive oversight:

  1. Strategic Team: This group sets long-term goals and develops high-level strategies to align technology initiatives with the college’s mission, fostering a culture of innovation and long-term planning.
  2. Tactical Team: Responsible for translating visionary goals into practical, actionable plans, the Tactical Team ensures the effective deployment and execution of technology initiatives, driving operational success.
  3. Operational Team: Focused on the daily management and seamless operation of technology services, this team integrates academic and administrative expertise to deliver robust, reliable technology solutions.

As its first major initiative, the TAC will focus on optimizing Oberlin’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
