The call was from AVODAH, The Jewish Service Corps: after four interviews, they had decided to offer me a placement as a Homeless Outreach Assistant at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

For those of you who are curious about what a liberal arts student does after Oberlin, I have some bad news and some good news...

Remember, the cardinal rule of politeness is to make the other person comfortable. In some situations, this calls for dressing up and shaking hands. In others, it consists of yelling and backslapping. Among Klingons, you say whatever's on your mind and be prepared to back up your words in battle if necessary. And so on.

I absolutely love this city. Everywhere you go here, there is a mountain in the backdrop. It is an unbelievably scenic place.

The Big Parade happened a month and a half ago. I finally got around to writing it up. Includes many pictures!

I was originally going to name this beauty 'The Couch Surfer Chronicles,' but I've yet to sleep on a couch.

There are a lot of stories that I could tell about the process of writing my thesis, but I'll just share one piece of advice: if you doze off during a late night in the library, when the building closes you will get locked in.

As of this morning, I have been approved for a double major!

There's an irrepressibly affectionate kitten in Oberlin who needs some help. Oliver's paw will have to be amputated. Please donate to CATSS, the local organization that helps stray cats like him!

I actually have no idea where I am, this plane doesn't have those little TVs with the electronic map. What other states are in the central US? Kansas?
