Oberlin Blogs

Lauren Kaskey ’27

Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m a second-year. I’m from San Francisco, the land of sourdough, cable-cars, and foodies! I do miss the fog (we named it Karl in SF), but seeing the seasons change here in Oberlin has been an incredible experience. I mean, the leaves in autumn? Unreal.

As a kid, I always had a packed schedule—I was constantly being rushed from choir to dance practice to gymnastics to piano lessons—so I’m grateful that Oberlin provides me the space to engage with all my interests! You might see me around campus drinking a dirty chai in Tappan, browsing the farmer’s market, or performing at an open mic. I’m involved in a lot of singing groups at Oberlin, including the Oberlin Acapelicans, Gospel Choir, Musical Union, and Songwriting Club. I also love to crochet (catch me at a craft market), dance, and journal.

Fun fact: I have about 700 notes on my phone’s Notes app, containing everything from shopping lists to favorite movie quotes. In fact, there’s a good chance that some of my blogs will be inspired by those notes!
