Biography

Amanda, a first-generation college student, attended Baldwin Wallace University where she developed a passion for working in higher education administration, serving as an orientation leader and student senate president. Following her undergraduate experience she earned a masters of education at Kent State University in higher education administration and student affairs. In graduate school, Amanda served as a graduate assistant in student life and housing at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and she completed internships at Northwestern University, the University of Akron, Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, and Notre Dame College in the areas of student life, admissions, and athletic academic advising.

Amanda earned a PhD in higher education administration at Kent State University in 2023, inclusive of a graduate certificate in institutional research and assessment. Her research centers on Black women’s decisions to attend for-profit colleges and universities for graduate education.

Throughout her career, Amanda has served in the roles of assistant director of admissions and orientation at Ball State University, the director of student life and support services at Ivy Tech Community College, the director of student engagement at Cuyahoga Community College, and the assistant dean of student affairs at Cuyahoga Community College. Her skills in the areas of student engagement, enrollment management, learning outcomes assessment, disability support services, student conduct, and behavior intervention add great value to the CSS team and expand campus support for Oberlin students.

Amanda enjoys traveling to tropical locations, reading, doing yard work, and spending time with her husband Eric and her dog Murph. Stop by her office to see a gallery of Murph photos!
