Why Parents Give

Connor Hall“Oberlin is a place where you are encouraged to think about the world from more than one perspective. That’s a skill that matters in life, no matter what you do. At Oberlin, you can just walk down the street and hear amazing music. You don’t even have to go into the concert hall. I believe that college is a place where ideas matter. My parents’ lives were changed by being able to go to college, a chance their parents did not have.”

ErvinWe love Oberlin’s student-centered approach and the warmth and energy of its community. It’s a place that focuses its resources on its undergraduates, including their academic, social, and overall well-being. The music conservatory is unique and adds a wonderful dimension to student life. The faculty and administration are responsive and help support students both academically and beyond the classroom.  Our daughter, Lex, is fully engaged in both her studies and campus life; she has joined clubs, found a job on campus, studied abroad during her first summer, and more!

Schuham Anders“Almost from the moment Isaiah first stepped on campus, he was sure that Oberlin was the right school for him. In the years since then, we’ve seen that he had indeed found his college. Found his people. And found a home and a team. Oberlin faculty, staff, coaches, and classmates have been so important to Isaiah's growth and happiness academically, socially, and emotionally. We are grateful.”

Tomo“We love Oberlin because it celebrates and appreciates the wide variety of talents that the diverse student body brings to the campus. Tomo loves the teachers and appreciates the positive critical feedback he is receiving because it is making him a stronger student.  During Winter Term, he learned how to play the viola da gamba and put on a wonderful concert that we were able to stream. We can't wait to see how Tomo further develops and grows over the next few years at Oberlin.”
