Midnight Wine Theft Downtown
In the wake of the Gibson’s robbery, another downtown business was the victim of theft. An unknown burglar stole approximately 15-20 bottles of wine from Toôo Chinoise sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning. Manager of Toôo Chinoise Ben Jira had left the restaurant at 11:30 p.m. Friday night and returned the following morning at 10:30 to find a section of the front window broken. Apparently, the thief broke the glass and removed the wine bottles stored directly inside the window. Jira estimates the value of the stolen wine and the replacement window to be about 250 dollars. Oberlin police have not yet identified any suspects. | ![]() |
