Jennifer R. Ellis is currently a sophomore at Oberlin Conservatory pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Harp Performance under Yolanda Kondonassis. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including prizes in the California State American String Teacher’s Association’s Solo Competition and the American Harp Society’s Bay Area Chapter Inez Stafford Competition. Ms. Ellis has performed with many ensembles such as Oberlin Symphony Orchestra, Oberlin Chamber Orchestra, Oberlin College Community Winds, Oberlin Women’s Chorale, Contra Costa Wind Symphony, Windsong Harp Ensemble, San Ramon Community Band, the Oakland Youth Orchestra, the Berkeley Youth Orchestra, the Contra Costa Youth Orchestra, and the Las Lomas Wind Ensemble. Major solo appearances include performances of Handel’s Concerto in B-Flat, Debussy’s Danse Sacrée, and Clare Grundman’s Nocturne for Harp and Wind Symphony. Additionally, Ms. Ellis has participated in masterclasses with Susann McDonald and Maria Casale. Prior to enrolling at Oberlin, Ms. Ellis studied with Jessica Siegel and Alice Giles, as well as studying piano with Earl Fredericks.

Teaching

Jennifer R. Ellis teaches private lessons for players at all levels as part of Oberlin’s Secondary Instrument Program. She places particular emphasis on injury prevention and musicians’ wellness. She is a member of the American String Teacher’s Association. Please contact her directly for more information.

Writing

As an avid writer, Jennifer R. Ellis reviews concerts for the Oberlin Review Arts Section. She was formally the editor of the newsletter for the Lafayette Federation of Temple Youth.
