Light Up The Sky

From July 12th through August 3rd, the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival will perform this semi-autobiographical comedy by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Moss Hart (“You Can’t Take It With You,” “Once  in a Lifetime”). In Light Up The Sky, a young playwright’s idealism is severely challenged by the temperaments of his collaborators—the producer, the director, the star, and her mother. This classic Broadway comedy about the roller-coaster process of mounting a Broadway show is one of the funniest plays ever written for the American stage.

The Light Up The Sky ensemble includes the Cleveland-area actors Marc Moritz** as Sidney Black, Katherine DeBoer** as Frances Black, and Christa Hinckley as Irene Livingston. Returning to OSTF are Karen Nelson Moser* as Stella Livingston, Oberlin College Associate Professor of Theater and Associate Theater Program Director Matthew Wright** as Carleton Fitzgerald, and Assistant Technical Director of Oberlin College David Bugher as Owen Turner. They are joined by Oberlin College Alumni Aaron Profumo (OC ‘12) as Peter Sloan and Jes Bedwinek (OC ‘05) as Miss Lowell.
