Norm Roberston Student Prize
The Norm Roberston Student Prize of $250 is intended to recognize and spotlight students who have completed outstanding projects of either scholarly research or artistic production/performance that advance communal awareness of issues related to the history, experience, or accomplishments of U.S. and non-U.S. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and/or Transgender (LGBT) persons. The Robertson prize is co-sponsored by Oberlin Lambda Alumni (OLA) and the Committee on Diversity and Equity. A subcommittee of the Committee on Diversity and Equity oversees the awarding of the prize.

Applications, including a copy of the project, should be submitted to Ms. Blissman at the BCSL by May 4, 2009 and applicants will be notified of the decision the following week. All graduating applicants should be prepared to attend the Lavender Celebration if their project is chosen as the prize winner.

Andy Cemelli (OC'85) Student Research Grant
The Andy Cemelli (OC'85) Student Research Grant, awarded in memory of Mr. Cemelli, provides up to $750 to support a proposed research project, performance, or acquire training in an area related to the experience or accomplishments of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and/or transgendered people. The award could be used for travel to research sites, acquisition of reference sources, conference travel, performance production, etc. The prize is funded by the Oberlin Lambda Alumni and may be used during spring term, summer, or fall term of 2009. The successful candidate must agree to produce some product (paper, performance, conference presentation, etc.) that relates to what has been learned or accomplished.

Donald Downs (OC’62) and Richard Korb Fund
This is a new fund created to support the needs and activities of the LGBTQ community at Oberlin College and Conservatory. Students, faculty, and staff are eligible to apply. Grants will support projects including, but not limited to faculty development, scholarship assistance, research projects, conferences and symposia, film screenings, guest speakers, publications, outreach and education, recognition for exceptional contributions to LGBT life within the Oberlin community, relevant library and art acquisitions, physical resources, and emergency needs. While there is no maximum amount for each award, typically grants will range from $100-750.
