Watson Hardware

89 years of experience in hardware have made our business great

Miles J. Watson arrived in Oberlin from Meadville, Pa., 89 years ago to begin a hardware dynasty that is still active today. Watson began as a clerk working for O. F. Carter in 1887 and by 1894 he had opened his own hardware store on S. Main with Samuel M. Wilkerson as a partner. A few years later, after the death of Wilkerson, the tore passed into Watson’s hands. In 1921 Glen Molyneaux married Watson’s daughter and he, too, became involved in the hardware business gradually taking it over and running it until he went into semi-retirement in 1952, when he passed the store along to his son, Glen Jr., the present owner.
