Winter Term will take place in January 2015. The Business Scholars will begin with the first week of the Program on campus, focusing on team-building, preparing for effective presentation and public speaking opportunities, and building a foundation of business principles and familiarity with business terminology. Then it is off to Cleveland, San Francisco, and New York City for visits with alumni and other friends of Oberlin.
To develop a clear sense of program outcomes, we invite you to review reflections from the 2014 Scholars.
The Program is open to all majors and all class years, though first-year students are not often selected. As an exploratory program, sophomores may be positioned best to take full advantage of the program. Ten to twelve Business Scholars will be selected through a competitive process.
All accommodations and other expenses are being subsidized through the generous funding provided by alumni. Students will be expected to cover miscellaneous expenses, including meals and housing while in Oberlin, as well as some meals while visiting other locations. Scholars are also responsible for being ready for two levels of business-appropriate and crisply pressed wardrobe choices: Business suits and accompaniments (Cleveland, New York, Boston), Business Casual (San Francisco/Silicon Valley). Participants are expected to cover their own expenses traveling to Oberlin for the first week of the program.
If you are interested, we strongly encourage you to attend an information meeting (dates and times will be posted on our calendar).
If you cannot attend an information meeting, you should call x58140 to make other arrangements. You are also encouraged to talk to past scholars about their experiences.
