Physicist Amory Lovins heralded the advantages of alternative and renewable energy sources in a visionary 1976 article for Foreign Affairs, and he has been advocating for what he calls the “soft energy” path ever since. As head of the Rocky Mountain Institute, Lovins helps businesses and governments understand that using natural resources efficiently is both profitable and better for the environment. Recognized as “one of the Western world’s most influential energy thinkers” (Newsweek), Lovins is a MacArthur “genius” grant recipient and was named one of the 100 most important people in America this year by Time magazine.
“Public discourse about climate change has resulted in the erroneous idea that it’s all about cost, burden, and sacrifice.”
