Actor and comedian Ed Helms ’96 has an appetite for satire and a penchant for being hilariously irritating. A 1996 Oberlin grad, Helms was a correspondent for the Emmy Award-winning “news” program The Daily Show from 2002 to 2006, reporting on issues ranging from Iraq war strategy to gay marriage with his unique brand of oblivious obnoxiousness. He currently stars as Dunder Mifflin salesman Andy Bernard on the acclaimed comedy series The Office, badgering co-workers with his love of nicknames and a cappella singing.
“College made me realize that I have no patience for arrogant, dogmatic people and that I must therefore devote my life to undermining and satirizing those people.”
