The Takács Quartet is widely recognized as one of the world’s premier string quartets. Known for their authoritative interpretations of Beethoven, the quartet won Grammy and Gramophone awards for their 2002 recording of the “Razumovsky” quartet included in this concert. The program also features a new work by John Psathas, whose music fuses jazz, classical, and folk traditions into an exuberant, one-of-a-kind sound. A quartet “at the peak of its powers—at the peak of its profession” (Boston Globe), the Takács makes a highly anticipated return to Finney Chapel for this performance.

“The Takács might play this repertoire [Beethoven] better than any other quartet in the past or present.”
