Membership - Friends of Art

We can now securely process credit card transactions through the link above. To direct your gift to the AMAM, first select the "one" button in the gift-designation box. A menu will appear; select "Friends of the Allen Memorial Art Museum." Under Gift Amount, please select "other" and type in the dollar amount appropriate to your desired membership level.

The museum’s first curator, Hazel B. King, founded the Friends of Art in 1938. She wanted to gather a group of supporters to help the museum acquire art and support meaningful encounters with original works through lectures, exhibitions, gallery tours, and other public programs.

Today, annual contributions to the Friends of Art—in the form of membership dues—provide critical funding for the Allen Memorial Art Museum. Active membership ensures the museum’s role as a vital educational presence for Oberlin College students and faculty, for K-12 schoolchildren, and for the region as a whole.

In 2014, the museum established new membership levels and benefits. All members receive reciprocal benefits at academic museums across the nation through the College and University Reciprocal Membership Program. You can find a list of these museums by clicking here.

At the $150 level and above, Friends receive reciprocal member benefits at a variety of Ohio art museums. Those joining at the $500 level and above receive member benefits at major museums, botanical gardens, and other sites nationwide through the Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM).

To receive benefits through any program, you must present your AMAM membership card(s). Benefits vary by institution and participants are subject to change. We encourage you to call the institution before visiting to determine exact benefits.

For more information, please call 440-775-8670 to speak with Megan Harding, the AMAM’s Publications, Membership, and Media manager, or e-mail
