Oberlin Chalk Walk 2017
Saturday, June 24, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
The sidewalks of Oberlin will come alive with color during this 12th annual community event. The rain date is Sunday, June 25.
The 2016 Chalk Walk was a great success, with over 1000 people registering to take part! Thank you to everyone who came out! Photos of the event are available on the official Oberlin Chalk Walk Facebook page.
Join master artists, local artists, and scores of community members of all ages as they create beautiful, inspired, and unique works of chalk art throughout downtown Oberlin. All materials are provided free of charge.
Chalk Walk is collaboration between the AMAM, the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA), the Oberlin Public Library, Oberlin Business Partnership, and Oberlin Heritage Center. There will be four outdoor registration sites: New Union Center for the Arts (39 S. Main St.), Ben Franklin (13 W. College St.), Hall Auditorium (67 N. Main St.), and near the East College Street project (335 E. College St.).
Leading up to this year’s event, the AMAM and FAVA will hold public workshops at several locations in Lorain County. If your organization is interested in hosting a chalk workshop, please contact the Education Department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Master artists Hector Castellanos and Wendy Mahon finish their 2015 work, based on José Clemente Orozco's print "Paisaje mexicana (Mexican Landscape)," which was featured in the AMAM exhibition Latin American and Latino Art at the Allen.
